SELMER “SEL” M. DAHL, 57

Selmer “Sel” M. Dahl, 57, of Luverne, Minn., formerly of Omaha, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Sioux Valley Hospital and University Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S. D.

Services were Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minn. The Revs. Dell B. Sanderson and Maurice E. Hagen officiated. Burial was in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.

Selmer M. Dahl was born April 14, 1942 to Sigurd J. and Myrtle S. (Haugland) Dah., in Minneota, Minn. He was baptized May 6, 1942, at Hope Lutheran Church in Minnesota.

At the age of four, he moved with his family to Luverne, Minn., where he attended elementary and junior high school. He was confirmed in September of 1957 in Tracy, Minn., and attended his first two years of high school in Irene, S. D. He later attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S. D., on an athletic scholarship, graduating in 1964.

On June 5, 1965, he married Mary Ellen Franzen in Hartington. The couple lived in various cities in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska, where he worked in the banking industry.

In 1979, he and his wife moved to Omaha and in March of 1999, he became community president of the First National Bank in Luverne.

He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minn. and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Miller, Neb.

His hobbies included fishing and he was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julianne and Bob FitzPatrick of Omaha and Jacqueline and Wydell Delts of Omaha; one son, Jonathan Dahl of Radondo Beach, Calif.; one sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Burnell Haugen of Yankton, S. D.; and two grandchildren , Brandon and Samantha Delts.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are suggested to the Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minn.

Holm Dingmann Funeral Home of Luverne, Minn., was in charge of arrangements.
