Harold Michaelson, 82

Harold Michaelson, 82, of Herman, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at his winter home in South Padre Island, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28 at the First United Methodist Church of Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Harold Michaelson was born March 22, 1920, in Tilden to Henry and Margaret (Dredge) Michaelson.

On Sept. 17, 1942, he married Vivian Ada Prawitz at Colorado Springs, Colo.

He served in the military during World War II and served with the 6th Ranger Battalion.

After his discharge, Mr. and Mrs. Michaelson operated an ice cream parlor in Madison called Ice Cream Land. In the late 1940s, the couple moved to Omaha, where Mr. Michaelson worked for the Coco-Cola Bottling Company. They moved to Blair in 1952, where Mr. Michaelson farmed and also worked for Ralston Purina Co. for more than 20 years as an order buyer. He then went to work for the Skelly station in Blair, later known as Olsen’s Auto Service. After his retirement from Olsen’s, he went to work for Woodhouse Ford as a driver.

He was a member of the Blair V.F.W. Herman American Legion Jackson Peck Post No. 274, and the Fremont F.O.E. Aerie 200.

He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Candy Hansen of Herman, and Debby and Don Hansen of Blair; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Deward Dempster of Orchard, Opal and Glen Boies of Fremont, and Shirley and Glen Hopkins of Omaha; a brother and sister-in-law, Orville andDonna Michaelson of Dallas, Ore.; sisters-in-law and spouse, Bette Dahman of Berryton, Kan., Lorena and Vernon Hoxie of Kennard, and Helen Sternberg of Royal; brother-in-law, Elmer Hansen of Albion; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; daughter, Sharon White; two brothers and two sisters.

Memorials are suggested to the Herman Fire and Rescue Squad.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
