Elmer W. Michelsen, 69

Elmer W. Michelsen, 69, of Bald Knob, Ark., died Dec. 15, 2002. Funeral services were Dec. 18 at the Bald Knob Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Blair Cemetery.

Elmer W. “Mike” Michelsen was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Oakland to Ollie and Catherine (Carston) Michelsen.

He was a commercial agricultural pilot for more than 50 years, and worked throughout the United States. Most recently, he had been employed by Bullock Flying Service in Dewitt, Ark.

He was a Korean War veteran, and flew with the 339th Fighter Squadron throughout Korea and Japan from 1948 through 1953.

He is survived by three sons, Monte Michelsen of Tampa, Fla., Dean Michelsen of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Michael Michelsen of Bald Knob; three daughters, Joni Michelsen of California, Michelle Formella of Plover, Wis., and Melissa Michelsen of Bald Knob; six grandchildren; and three sisters, Viola Hultman of Omaha, Catherine Martinson of Butterfield, Minn., and Lillian Friesen of St. James, Minn.

He was preceded in death by five brothers.

Bald Knob Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
