Larry D. Larsen, 59, of Fremont, died Friday, May 30, 2014, at his home.

A graveside committal service will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. There will be no visitation.

Larry D. Larsen was born July 27, 1954, at Ainsworth, to Charles and Doris (Blake) Larsen.

He lived in Ainsworth, Montana, Iowa, South Dakota and Blair as a child and Glasgow, Mont., and Cedar Bluffs prior to coming to Fremont.

He married his high school sweetheart and soul mate Sandi Lackey on Dec. 30, 1972, in Fremont.

He loved riding his Harley, fishing, camping and his old vehicles. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He would drop what he was doing to help a friend in need.

He had a motorcycle accident in April 2013 and lost his spleen and never fully recovered and his health continued to decline.

He is survived by his wife, Sandi Larsen, of Fremont; son Charles Larsen and wife Launa of Wahoo; daughter Andria Larsen-Ellis of Fremont; mother Doris Layman and husband Carl of Fremont; brother Mark Layman and wife Britta of Rose Hill, Kan.; sisters: Patty Montgomery and husband Everett of El Paso, Texas, Julie Booze and friend Dave Russell of Fremont, Jo Dee Metcalf and husband Sam of Noblesville, Ind., and Pam Frizzell and husband Creighton of Stafford, Va.; five grandchildren; his best friend, Bubba, his German shepherd; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Larsen; and brother Jim Larsen.

Memorials are suggested to the Dodge County Humane Society, the American Cancer Society or to the Nebraska Medical Center Life Flight Program.
