Lucinda M. Dam, 91, of Hooper, died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at the Fremont Area Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, in the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. Interment will be in the West Admah Cemetery.

Lucinda M. (Busch) Dam was born April 25, 1915, on the family farm in Washington County to Fred and Orphia (Armstrong) Busch. Her family moved to a farm south of Winslow and she grew up in the Hooper area. She attended the Stecher School and graduated from the 8th grade of District 43 in Dodge County, later graduating from Hooper High School in 1933.

On Sept. 26, 1937, she married Edwin W. Dam at Zion Lutheran Church in Hooper. They lived on the farm northeast of Winslow until moving into Hooper in 1966.

Mrs. Dam had been a 4-H leader, and she was an accomplished seamstress. She loved children and taught Sunday School for more than 25 years. She later served as a Bible study guide for adults. She was the Missionary President of the former Zion Lutheran congregation, and was president of the ELCW Woman’s group for two terms at Redeemer Lutheran church. She was also a willing worker of their sewing group.

She was past secretary of the Hooper Extension Club, secretary of the West Admah Cemetery Association for 50 years, secretary of Redeemer Altar Guild, member of Hooper Federated Women’s Club, and she volunteered for several years at the Hooper Care Center and the Redeemer Child Care.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Alice Dam of Hooper; four grandchildren and their families; six great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Corrine and George Lorenzen of Fremont; and a brother and sister-in-law, Orville and Agnes Busch of Colorado Springs, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, in 1991; by two infant sons; a brother, Wilford Busch; and a sister, Charity Hormel.

Memorials are suggested to the West Admah Cemetery and Lutheran Family Services.
