A memorial service was held Saturday, January 18 at First Lutheran Church in Blair for Gerald J. Mickel, 52 of Tuscon, Arizona who died January 15, 1992 at the veterans hospital in Tuscon. Rev. James McBride will officiate. Burial will be in Snow Camp, North Carolina.

Gerald J. Mickel was born February 23, 1939 in Omaha. He was a former vice president of Signa Dental Health Care in Des Plaines, Illinois.

He lived in Omaha until 1956 when he joined the United States Navy. He retired as chief petty officer.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his mother, Naomi Mickel of Fremont; his father and stepmother, Jack and Lenora Mickel of Fremont; two sons, Raymond of Snow Camp, North Carolina and James of Illinois; a daughter, Debbie Schultz of Las Vegas, Nevada; a brother, Jack of Tuscon; four sisters, Jackie (Mrs. David) Moore of Fremont, Jeanette (Mrs. Darrell) King of Blair, Nancy (Mrs. David) Bibbee of Newberg, Oregon and Sally (Mrs. James) Graham of Potomac, Illinois; a stepbrother, Gary brown of Norfolk; three stepsisters, Debbie Cattlet and Barbara Rusinko, both of Fremont and Sandy Mayer of Scottsbluff; and four grandchildren.
