Donald G. ‘Red’ Mildward, 61

Donald G. “Red” Mildward, 61, of Valley, died suddenly at his home on April 22, 2003.

Funeral services were Friday, April 25, at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn. Interment was in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Elkhorn.

Donald George Mildward was born Dec. 17, 1941, in Maryville, Mo., to Paul and Odessa (Franks) Mildward.

In the summer of 1960, at the age of 19, he accepted Christ as his savior. He was involved with the King Lake Christian Missionary Alliance, as a Sunday school teacher, and served as a deacon at the Bethel Baptist Church in Valley. In the early days, he enjoyed giving his testimony at the Soul Concern.

On July 4, 1963 he married Jeanne K. Hamilton at the Assembly of God Church in Maryville.

Mr. Mildward was a faithful employee at Valmont Industries for 36 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid cyclist, loved the outdoors, and being with his pets. He did everything with enthusiasm, was always ready to laugh, and was tenderhearted to those in need. He always spoke highly of his Grandma Amelia – his favorite grandmother.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of Valley; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Melody Mildward of Wilber, and Kip and Amy Mildward of Blair; three granddaughters; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Kenneth Carr of Quitman, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Myrtle McCullah of Carbondale, Kan., and Linda and husband Jerry Renne of Valley; half brothers, Russell and Kenny Mildward, both of Emporia, Kan.; stepbrothers, Nathan Willis, Randy Willis of Maryville, Mo., and Dave Willis of Kansas City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harley and Marjorie Dennis; sister-in-law and spouse, Mary Elizabeth and Bobby Blacketer.
