Services Held For Aileen Miles

Funeral services for Aileen H. Miles, 75, were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington December 5 with Dr. Norman Schroeder officiating.

Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Fremont, Nebraska.

Casket bearers were Martin Miles, Jerald Holling, Merrill Mason, Elmer Petersen, Dennis Thornberg and Irwin Kruse.

Hadan-Golden Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Miles died December 3, 1986 at Methodist Hospital, Omaha.

She was born February 25, 1911, to Truman and Geneva (Johnson) Pope at Mondamin, Iowa.

She was baptized in the Christian faith June 10, 1920, and became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church April 29, 1943. She sang in the church choir for a number of years.

She was united in marriage to Donald Miles September 14, 1935 in Fremont. One son and one daughter were born to this union.

In 1937 the family came to Bennington. Mr. Miles was employed by the Lumber Company. In 1943 he and his wife became owners of the business.

Following her husband’s death on November 29, 1971, Mrs. Miles, together with son Jerry, continued with the lumberyard. She also contributed 1700 hours of volunteer service at Methodist Hospital in Omaha and was a member of the Bennington Woman’s Club.

Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her husband Donald; two brothers, Bill and Truman Pope; three sisters, Pearl Homes, Maude Herre and Lillian Roth; and one half-sister, Lova Pope.

She is survived by son Gerald Miles; daughter Judith and Kenneth Sass; four grandchildren, Mindy and Marty Miles, and Ranae and dawn Sass; special friend Kay Martin; other relatives and many friends.
