Blair native Charles J. Daniels Sr., 86, of Barnett, Mo., died Feb. 22, 2007, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles, Mo.

A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Hopewell Cemetery.

Charles J. Daniels was born Feb. 17, 1921, in Blair to James Samuel and Anna Marie (Metzler) Daniels.

He was baptized in 1937 at a Christian church in Nebraska. On June 23, 1949, he married Hertha Petersen in Nebraska.

Mr. Daniels was a World War II veteran and had served in the U.S. Army, mostly in Italy. He worked as an ironworker in Omaha for several years until his retirement. He enjoyed farming, gardening and flowers.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Rosemary Daniels, Jr. of Barnett, Mo; and Terry Lee and Kathy Daniels of Middleburg, Fla.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eloise Smay, Annie McIntosh, and Babe Ward, all of Blair; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hertha; a daughter, Luscynda Smith; four brothers, Johnnie Earl Daniels, James Samuel Daniels Jr., Raymond Niles Daniels, and Ray Austin Daniels; and three sisters, Ellen Cora Daniels, Luella Mae Hoier, and Edna Louise Metz.
