Blair native Fred L. Daniels, 73, of Porterville, Calif., died June 2, 2005, in Porterville.

Funeral services were Monday, June 6, at Myers Chapel in Porterville, followed by a private interment.

Fred Leroy Daniels was a veteran of the United States Navy. For many years, he was a walnut grower and he also worked for the State of California, and had worked for Southern California Edison for 10 years.

He was a member of the Springville Community Church, and was a member of the Free & Accepted Masons, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, LaVerne Daniels; daughter, Tracy Skiles; three sons, Scott Daniels, Jeff Daniels, and Chad Daniels; all of Porterville; six grandchildren; a sister, Tena Schumake of Blair; a brother, Francis Daniels of Turlock; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Edna Daniels; stepmother, Marian Daniels of Blair; daughter, Kristen Daniels; sister, Barbara Goodell; and one grandchild.
