Irene Lorsch, 88

Irene Lorsch, 88, of Kennard, died Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Crowell Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday April 2, at Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will begin Tuesday at noon at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Irene Jaspersen was born Jan. 18, 1922, in rural Blair to Lars and Clara (Hanson) Jaspersen. She attended school at Long Creek Elementary, graduated from Blair High School and attended Dana College. She taught school at Cruikshank and Rispin.

On May 22, 1943, she married John “Bud” Lorsch. They farmed west of Fort Calhoun. In 1946, they moved to their farm in Kennard.

Mrs. Lorsch was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Colby Corner Extension Club, and Royal Neighbors. She also dedicated her time as a 4-H leader and to teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed growing flowers, playing cards, dancing and living on a farm.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Henton of Blair, son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Susan Lorsch of Kennard; grandchildren and spouses, Denise and Tim Ray, John R. and Julie Henton, Nicole and Greg Prososki, Becky Lorsch, Jason and Janelle Lorsch, and Lisa Lorsch; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in November of 1996; granddaughter, Deborah; and brothers Avery and Lyle Jaspersen.

Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard, or the Kennard Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
