MARY E. DAVIES, 102, DIED AT FREMONT TUESDAY, JAN. 18th

Mary E. Davies, 102-year-old widow of the late Dr. Rupert A. Davies died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital at Fremont. She was 102 years of age.

Mrs. Davies, who was a lifetime resident of Arlington, was born January 15, 1875 at Arlington which was then known as Bell Creek. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Blackburn, pioneer residents of the Arlington community.

On December 3, 1902, she was married to Dr. Rupert A. Davies who became a practicing physician in Arlington until his death on March 20th, 1959.

Mrs. Davies was a member of the Arlington Congregational Church. She was active in church affairs, especially the Ladies Circle of the church.

The couple had no children but she is survived by two nephews and two nieces. The nephews are Richard Blackburn of Hendersonville, North Carolina and W. H. Blackburn of Burlingame, California. The nieces are Mrs. Russell (Evelyn) Gibson of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mrs. Arthur (Angeline) Nebel of Columbia, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at the Arlington Community church at 2 p.m. Friday, January 21st. The Rev. Bryce Hecht will conduct the service and burial will be made in the Arlington Cemetery under the direction of the Reckmeyer Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Richard Melvard, Oscar Scheer, Leonard Thompson, Dr. David Bloch, Dr. Jack Cady and Howard Edmondson.

It has been suggested that memorials might be made to the building fund of the Arlington Community Church.
