Linton O. Puffer, 80

Linton O. Puffer, 80, of Herman, died Sunday, June 18,2006, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 23, at the Herman Community Church. Interment will be in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Linton O. Puffer was born Jan. 25, 1926, in Tekamah to Linton and Blanche (Peck) Puffer, Sr. He attended Tekamah schools and served in the United States Navy during World War II.

On Dec. 21, 1947, he married Ruth Valder in Tekamah. The couple lived in Blair, except for one year in Oregon, before moving to Herman in 1987.

Mr. Puffer worked as a mechanic for the Bohs Oil Company for 20 years. He also worked for five years as a bus mechanic for Blair Community Schools, and also worked for the Blair Supply company and Taylor Oil Company.

He was a member of the Herman Community Church, the Herman American Legion Post No. 274, and Blair VFW Post No. 1251. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, and doing carpentry work.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Herman; son and daughter-in-law, David and Colleen Puffer of Herman; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Greg Zimmer of Omaha; eight grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Rose and Jim Sell of Mondamin, Iowa; step-brother, Chester Watkins of Tekamah; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Puffer of Craig.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Marion, and step-father, Roy Watkins.

Memorials are suggested to the Herman Community Church Building Fund.
