MRS. EMMA DAVIS DIES

Mrs. Emma Davis, a resident of Blair and vicinity all of her life, passed away in her sleep early Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Guy VanDeVenter. Mrs. Davis had suffered for many months with cancer.

Mrs. Davis was born July 3, 1880 at Herman, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Detlef Behmer. She grew up in the Herman vicinity and was married to Walter E. Davis January 3, 1902.

The couple farmed west of Herman for many years until Mr. Davis’ death in 1936. Mrs. Davis then moved to Blair. For the past five years she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. VanDeVenter.

The deceased woman was the mother of ten children. A son and daughter died in infancy but eight survive her passing.

There are three living sons. They are Chester of San Diego; Walter A. of Westminster, California; and Clark Davis of Herman.

Five daughters survive. They are Mrs. George Brooks (Nora) of Chugwater, Wyo.; Mrs. Floyd Morrison (Myrtle) of Mitchell, S. D.; Mrs. Otto Lamp (Laura) of Nebraska City; Mrs. Harold Hall (Lillie) of Schuyler; and Mrs. Guy VanDeVenter (Mildred) of Blair.

There are 23 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services had not been completed as The Enterprise went to press Wednesday evening. Details may be obtained from the Campbell Mortuary which is in charge of the services.
