FREDA KOENIG DAVIS, 92

Freda K. Davis, 92, of Santa Barbara, Calif., died Wednesday, Feb. 3. Her family has planned a private memorial.

She attended Pleasant View School and Blair High School and received further education at Wayne State Teachers College. She taught kindergarten through eighth grade at the Brodersen School in the Herman area before moving to San Diego, Calif., in 1937, where she worked as a doctor’s assistant.

She married Chester Davis and spent most of her years in San Diego as a homemaker. She was involved in the Parent Teacher Association and other volunteer activities.

She and her husband were active in the Order of Eastern Star Corinthian Chapter, and she served as Worthy Matron in 1957 and later as a Deputy Grand Matron.

She enjoyed camping in the western U. S. with her family and friends, and during her retirement years, camped by the shore of Lake Pend Oreille in Idaho.

She moved to Santa Barbara at the age of 80 and participated in the Salvation Army Home League and volunteered at the Sansum Research Foundation.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Brown; granddaughter, Tricia Brown; grandson, David Brown, all of Santa Barbara; and grandson, Robert Brown; two great-grandsons, Adam Brown and Zachary Brown, both of Grass Valley, Calif.; brother, Walter Koenig of Blair; sister, Laura Koenig of Hot Springs, S. D.; and sister, Margaret Julson of San Leandro, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Hagge, and son, Donald Hagge, and her husband, Chester Davis.

Welch-Ryce-Haider Funeral Chapels in Santa Barbara, Calif., were in charge of arrangements.
