HAZEL DAVIS

Graveside services for Hazel Davis, 93, of Fremont will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

She died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010 at Midlands Hospital in Papillion.

Hazel was born June 6, 1917, in Arlington, and was raised there until her family moved to Dallas, S. D. She graduated from Dallas High School in 1935. She moved to Fremont in 1940 and worked for SS Kresgees and then worked in the printing area at the Mead Ordinance Plant from 1945 to 1962. In 1963, she moved to Denver where she lived until moving back to Fremont in 1971. Upon her return, she worked for Nebraska Printing and Litho until her retirement in 1982. Hazel DeWitt married Garnet E. Davis in Fremont on Aug. 23, 1942. Garnet died Aug. 24, 1984. She was a proud member of the First United Methodist Church in Fremont and Rachael’s Circle at First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: two nieces, Celia Novacek of San Pablo, Calif.; Janet Bailey of El Sobranto, Calif.; two nephews, Edward Murphy of San Pablo, Calif.; Ron Novacek of Stockton, Calif.; and three special cousins, Addie Bailey of Omaha, Peggy (and husband, Rick) Case of Omaha.

The Rev. Michael McGregor will officiate Monday’s service. There will be no visitation.

A memorial has been established to First National Methodist Church at 815 N. Broad Street in Fremont.
