HAD BEEN CLOSELY ASSOCIATED WITH DANA’S GROWTH

(picture)

Mrs. C. X. Hansen, a resident of Blair since 1898, passed away at the Blair Hospital early Wednesday morning, April 7th. She had been suffering from cancer for about three months.

Mrs. Hansen was well known here and had been closely associated with much of life of Dana College. Her husband, the late Dr. C. X. Hansen, was a former President of the College and a life-long member of the Dana faculty and she had always followed the developments and the activities of the college with keen interest.

Mrs. Hansen was born September 18, 1872 at Rock Island, Ill., the daughter of John B. and Hannah Sophia Hultberg. She was 81 years of age.

Mrs. Hansen came to Nebraska with her parents when she was but a child and grew up in the vicinity of Oakland, Nebraska.

On Christmas day, 1898, she was married to Dr. C. X. Hansen, of Blair. The marriage took place at Lyons, Nebraska.

Many years of her life were spent living on college hill, near the Dana campus, but following Dr. Hansen’s death in August, 1941, she moved to a small house near the First Lutheran Church. This was her home, near to her church and the people in whom she held so much interest, at the time of her death.

Mrs. Hansen was the mother of seven children - - five sons and two daughters. The sons are Harold of Omaha; Paul V. of Blair; Elliot of Shandon, California; Winston of Casper, Wyoming; and Ernest of Boise, Idaho.

The daughters are Mrs. Lillian Gustin of Fremont; and Mrs. Bernard Wulf (Lois) of Blair. In addition, there are ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Two sisters also survive. They are Mrs. Anna Andersen of Omaha; and Miss Julie Hultberg also of Omaha.

(According to her husband's obituary, Mrs. Hansen's first name is Ida.)
