Mrs. Robert Hooks passed away at the Clarkson hospital in Omaha, Tuesday, August 11, following an operation for gall stones. She had been seriously ill for ten days prior to her death.

Eva Sutherland, daughter of our beloved townsman, John Sutherland, was born in Jackson county, Indiana, on July 21, 1868 and with her parents moved to this county in 1882. Since that time this has been her home.

On April 8, 1891, she was married to Mr. Robert Hooks at the home of her parents west of Blair and they immediately went to farming in the same neighborhood where she was reared.

Eighteen years ago she and her husband gave up farming and moved to Blair where they have resided since. She was an active member of the local Baptist church and a good wife and mother, always practicing the precepts of her church and living an ideal life.

Besides the bereaved and heart broken husband and her aged father, now 89 years old, she leaves a son, John, and two daughters, Mrs. Peter Hagge and Mrs. Hjalmer Quist of near Blair and five brothers, Will of San Antonio, Texas; Newt of Cheyenne, Wyo.; J. W., A. J. and Marion, of Blair; and one sister, Mrs. Charles Lamb, also of Blair; also four grandchildren, all of whom grieve deploy their great loss of a loved one who had led an exemplary life and had been an inspiration to them all.

The funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Baptist church in Blair with Rev. Reese officiating and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
