CLARENCE PORTER DIED TUESDAY

Clarence Porter of 504 West Jackson street, passed away at the home of a son in Norfolk, Nebraska late Tuesday evening according to information reaching Blair.

A resident here since 1935, Mr. Porter had been in failing health for some time. Prior to that time he had lived in the Decatur, Nebraska vicinity.

After moving here he had farmed several years and then became custodian of the North and West school wards of Blair. This work he followed until this fall when his health made his resignation imperative.

He is survived by his wife and one son. The son is a druggist at Norfolk.

Services will be held Friday afternoon at the Decatur, Nebraska Seventh Day Adventist church at 2 p.m. Rev. J. D. Johnson of Blair will be in charge of the services.

CLARENCE PORTER BURIED AT DECATUR

Clarence D. Porter, son of Jonathan and Anna Porter, was born on a farm near Decatur, Nebraska, March 23, 1878, and passed away Sept. 20, 1949, at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital at Norfolk, Nebraska, at the age of 71 years.

He attended rural school near his father’s home. On April 2, 1902, he was united in marriage to Claressa Jane Jenson, his school day sweetheart. One son came to bless this home, Clarence Orval, of Norfolk, Nebraska.

In 1936, the family moved to Blair, Nebraska, where they have lived for the past thirteen years. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Left to mourn are his wife, and son, Orval, of Norfolk, along with countless friends who loved his ready smile, generous nature and love of his home and family.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. D. Johnson of Blair at the Decatur Rural Seventh Day Adventist Church Friday, Sept. 23, 1949. Interment took place in the church cemetery in the family burying lot.
