Services Held For Ed Miller

Herman Farmer, 68, Once A Sailor, Was A Native Of Germany

Edward Miller, 68, farmer residing west of Herman, died last Wednesday at Immanuel hospital in Omaha after an illness of three weeks. He had been a resident of the Herman vicinity about 45 years.

Funeral services were held at the American Legion hall in Herman Saturday afternoon, the Rev. A. W. Clarke, Methodist minister, officiating. Burial followed in Coupal cemetery.

Mr. Miller was born in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany, October 2, 1872, and spent seven years sailing on freighters when a young man. During this period he visited most of the principal ports of the world.

He came to the United States in 1893 and soon afterwards to Herman.

Mr. Miller’s wife died December 4, 1920. He is survived by two sons, Charles and Herman, both of Herman, and two sisters, Mrs. Philip Holtz and Mrs. Anna Jarius.

Obituary

Funeral services for Edward Miller were held at the Legion hall in Herman Saturday afternoon, September 16, with Rev. A. W. Clarke of the local Methodist church officiating. Music was furnished by L. D. Long, Fred Robertson, and C. R. gray accompanied by Mrs. G. F. Lowe. Interment was made in the Coupal cemetery near Vacoma.

Edward Miller was born at Schleswig, Holstein, Germany on October 2, 1872 and passed away at the Immanuel hospital in Omaha Wednesday, September 13, at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 11 days.

Before coming to the United States he spent seven years sailing the seven seas on vessels freighting and had been to most of the principal ports of the world. He came to the United States in 1893, and to the Herman community and had resided here until his death. His wife preceeded him in death on December 4, 1920. He is survived by two sons, Charles and Herman of Herman, two sisters, Mrs. Phillip Holtz and Mrs. Anna Jarius and a host of friends.-Herman News Service.
