Buried in New England Cemetery

Published in The Tribune, August 9, 1911

N. A. Bovee, P. J. Gossard and other old friends of the family went to New England, Monday to attend the funeral of Steven Davis. Mr. Davis was in his 77th year. He suffered considerable with heart trouble and while traveling on a visiting trip, he died within one station of his destination.

Mr. Davis crossed the continent in ’49 and in an early day settled in Washington county where he numbered his friends by those he met. Two sons and two daughters mourn his loss and many friends regret that Uncle Steve Davis was not permitted to die peacefully at home among those whom he loved so well and amid the scenes of the hills that he has called home for many years, but his good life had been lived so that whenever or wherever the Lord willed that he should answer the last summons, he was ready to meet his Maker.
