Florence Ellen Miller, 93

Florence Ellen Miller, 93, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at the Tekamah Health and Rehab Center in Tekamah.

Services were Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at the Herman United Methodist Church in Herman. Burial was in the Herman Cemetery.

Florence Ellen Miller was born Feb. 3, 1906 to Francis Arthur and Martha (Christiansen) Chambers in Calhoun, Harrison County, Iowa. She graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1921. She attended Normal School in Missouri Valley for one year and received a teacher’s certificate.

On Nov. 28, 1931, she married Charles W. Miller in Fremont. They made their home in Herman, residing in the same home for 48 years. They owned and operated Miller garage, an automotive service business for 32 years.

She was a member of the Herman Federated Church, Herman Eastern Star and Jackson-Peck American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Edward R. and Nan Miller of Brecksville, Ohio; two sisters, Margaret Martens of Missouri Valley, Iowa and Mary Sproul of Lake View, Iowa; one brother, William Chambers of Williamsburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Laura K. Nixon of Chicago, Ill., David M. Miller of Medina, Ohio and Thomas G. Miller of Golden, Colo.; and three great-grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Lambert, Matthew Charles Nixon, both of Chicago, Ill. and Nicholas Ryan Miller of Medina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Robert Chambers; and two sisters, Hazel Chambers and Mable Martens.

Memorials are suggested to Herman United Methodist Church.

Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah was in charge of arrangements.
