Early-Day DeSoto Resident Died In Omaha, Jan. 10th

Goldie Marie Cachelin Miller passed away at the Villa DeSante Nursing home in Omaha, January 10, 1973 at the age of 88.

She was the last of the 7 children of the late Urban and Frances Cachelin, who were pioneers of DeSoto, Nebraska. The Cachelins settled at DeSoto in 1856.

Goldie taught at the DeSoto school in 1905 and the Long Creek school in 1906.

Four of her pupils from these schools, attended her funeral. Arline Smith, Rolland Smith and Seymour Smith from the DeSoto school and Mrs. Delmar McDonald of Papillion from the Long Creek school.

She was secretary for Realtor O. C. Reddick at this time, he named the street, Cachelin Drive in Omaha, in her honor.

Goldie was married to John Elmer Miller October 27, 1922. They moved to Chicago where Mr. Miller held the office of the Chief Clerk of the Finance Department of the U.S. Army. Upon his retirement in 1949 they moved to Ralston, Nebraska where they lived until 1964, when they moved to the Masonic Manor.

Funeral services were held at the Crosby Kunold Mortuary in Omaha with Rev. John Fitzmeier and Mr. Wade E. Sheppard officiating.

Pallbearers were Charles Seltz, Rolland Smith, Hans Kay, Alva Workman, David Sheppard and James Smith.

Mrs. Miller is survived by 3 nephews, 4 nieces and a host of friends.
