Mrs. Jacob Miller

Mrs. Jacob Miller was the wife of the late Jacob Miller, the very last of the brave Mexican war veterans to reside in Washington county. Mrs. Miller lived for a number of years in the western mountain mining region and probably in 1868 came back as far east as Ft. Calhoun, where they lived for probably twenty-five years, building them a little home on the east side before moving to Omaha some years ago, where their son, Benjamin, died and two or three years after the old veteran himself. She died March 1, 1911, and will be buried beside her husband and son at Forest Lawn near Omaha. She was nearly 82 years old and leaves one daughter, Mrs. Scott Handlin of Omaha. One time over thirty-five years ago when they lived where Otto Frahm now lives and we had much sickness in our family, Mrs. Miller very kindly spent several days helping us care for them and we have always felt grateful to her for her kindness.
