Buried in Blair Cemetery

Pilot 9 May 1917

Uncle James Miller died at 10:45 this morning of old age at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Minnie Miller, and the funeral will be held at the residence at 10:30 Friday morning, Rev. W. H. Underwood officiating. Burial will be under the auspices of the G.A.R., of which he was a member, having served in a New York cavalry troupe during the Civil war. He was born in Deleware County, New York, Sept. 22, 1834, and was therefore past 83 years of age. He was married there and four children born to them are all dead. He came to this county about 38 years ago and followed his trade as a carpenter as long as his health would permit. For some time past his heart had been bothering him, but he was up last evening and ate his supper as usual. He had a bad spell after supper and death came at 10:45 this forenoon. The only living relatives he leaves are the two grandchildren, Donald Miller, of Davenport, Ia., who will be here for the funeral and Charles, who lives at home with his mother. Mrs. Clara Gregory, of Hunter, of New York, who was raised by Mr. Miller, will not be here for the funeral.
