George W. Dean, 82, of Arlington died Sunday, May 2, 1998, at A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Donald Levenhagen will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 854 and American Legion Post No. 20, at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Westlawn Memorial Park in Grand Island, Neb.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington and at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

Mr. Dean was born July 6, 1915 in Grand Island to William and Josephine (Werner) Dean. He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island High School in 1933. He enlisted in the U. S. Army during World War II, serving from March 1945 to July 1945. He lived in Grand Island until 1956, then in Columbus until 1961. He lived in Fremont until 1974 and then in Arlington until his death.

On July 12, 1936, he married Mildred Riggert in Seward, Neb. On April 6, 1974, he married Emma (Leu) Widener in Blair.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair and American Legion Post No. 71 in Arlington.

Survivors are his wife, Emma of Arlington; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Barbara Dean of Fremont; a daughter, Marcia (Mrs. William) Schwartzer of Shelby, Neb.; step-daughters and step-son-in-law, Marlene and Ernest Armendariz of Tulsa, Okla.; and Sharon Schlueter of Watertown, Wis.; a son-in-law, Bob Schuyler of Grand Island; a step-daughter-in-law, Joan Schlueter of Arlington; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred on July 29, 1973; his father, William; his mother and step-father, John and Josephine (Werner) Bacon; a daughter, Janice Schuyler; a brother, Orville Dean and a stepson, Jerry Schlueter.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Schwartzer, Michael Dean, Matthew Dean, Kurt Schuyler, Kent Schuyler, Bill Schwartzer, Jr., Roger Carlow and Allen Lubken.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair; Arlington American Legion Post No. 71 or the Arlington Volunteer Fire Department.
