Naomi B. Garner, 90

Naomi B. Garner, 90, of Blair, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Services are currently pending with Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair.

Naomi B. Garner was born Jan. 17, 1924, to John C. and Esther (Lewis) Holmes.

She was born and raised in Tekamah and graduated from Tekamah High School in 1942.

In 1942, she married Mark Baker. To this union, six children were born: Gary, Cheryl, Bob, Beverly, Lewis and Randall.

In 1960, she married Gilfred Garner of Blair and the couple made their home in Omaha. In 1989, the couple moved back to Blair.

Over the years, she worked at Boys Town as a typist; Service Life Insurance as a file clerk; Data Documents in the accounting department and for Omaha Public Schools.

For three years, she attended summer classes at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she earned her certification for cafeteria management and dietary assistant.

She spent her last four years of work at Burke High School.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Erickson (Derald) of Arlington and Beverly Brase (Donald) of Blair; sons Lewis Baker (Beverly) of Omaha and Randall Baker (Susan) of Iowa; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons Gary and Robert Baker; sister Viola; brother John P. Holmes; and grandson Kenny Erickson.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society of Washington County and the Congregational Church in Blair.

Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 1 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 2 at Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard. Private graveside services in the Blair Cemetery.
