ROSS DEETS, VETERAN BLAIR BARBER, IS DEAD

Ross Deets, a long-time resident of Blair and retired barber, died at Memorial Community Hospital last Sunday, August 9th. Mr. Deets was 75 years old, having been born March 9, 1895. He was born at Maryville, Missouri. He came to Blair as a young man and ran a barber shop here for several generations.

For a long period of time his shop was located in the west part of the building which is now John’s Café. Many years later he moved to Lincoln Street opposite the Telephone Building where he had a combination barber shop and living quarters. Ill health and advancing age caused him to close the shop several years ago.

He and Mrs. Deets have been living at Parkview Manor on south Sixteenth Street.

He is survived by his wife, Mona; and by two daughters. They are Mrs. Dorothy Johnson of Fremont and Mrs. Deloras Patton, of Van Nuyes, California. There are three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A sister, Mrs. Lucertia Brewster, lives at Torrence, California.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Robert Bee conducting the service. Burial, under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral home was made in the Blair Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Max Bain, Ted Jarosz, Dan Beck, Harry Beck, Clifton Robinson and Don Schettler.
