Rose Miller’s Death Follows Long Illness

Rose C. Miller, born at Petersburg, Nebraska, on April 11, 1890, died January 26, 1978, at the Blair Hospital following a long illness.

Her mother was French, her father a transient coal miner from Ohio. She lived for a time in Ohio, where her father worked in the coal mines, but came back to Blair by covered wagon after a short time.

She attended school in what later became the Blair Hospital on East Grant Street. She was united in marriage to William H. Miller of Fort Calhoun, who preceded her in death, as did a daughter, Vivian.

She and her husband farmed East of Blair for fourteen years. They had three children.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and the Modern Woodmen of the World. She worked as a typesetter for the Blair Pilot before her marriage, while Don C. Van Duesen was editor.

She is survived by two sons, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, one sister and many nieces and nephews.

Note: There was a handwritten note on the card: Her father’s last name was Lewis. Her sister is Mrs. Floyd Stricklett.
