Two Dead, One Hospitalized In Nighttime Murder-Suicide

The community of Blair was stunned Wednesday April 6th when they heard of an apparent murder-suicide that took place at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning in an apartment on North 13th street in Blair.

Two men were dead and a woman is in critical condition as a result of the apparent murder-suicide. Dead is 41 year old “Rusty” Ivan Misfeldt, 44 year old Ronald Robert Young. Camillia Misfeldt is in critical condition.

Blair Police Chief Walt Groves reported that apparently what took place was that Rusty Misfeldt went to the home of his divorced wife early Wednesday morning. The front door was broken open. Misfeldt apparently then shot his wife and Ronald Young. Misfeldt then turned the gun on himself. The Misfeldts have been divorced for some time. Mr. Young has reportedly been separated from his wife for a time. Mr. Young lived at the Cottonwood Marina.

Mrs. Misfeldt made the first call for a Rescue Squad but failed to give enough information as far as location. A short time later one of the Misfeldt children made a second call and gave the location.

When the Blair Police officers arrived at the scene it was apparent that the two men were already dead. Mrs. Misfeldt was rushed to the Hospital where her condition was listed as critical as this newspaper went to press.

Later Wednesday the bodies of the two men were taken for autopsy to be made.

Funeral Services for Ivan Misfeldt are pending at the Bendorf Funeral Home in Blair. Mr. Misfeldt is survived by two sons, two brothers and five sisters.

The two Misfeldt boys are four year old Timothy and six year old Matthew.
