Mildred "Millie" Mary Limbach, 94, of Howells died peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Parkview Home in Dodge.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at St. John's Catholic Church in Howells. Rosary services will be 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the church on Wednesday.

Mildred Mary Sebek was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Clarkson, to Jan and Anna (Benes) Sebek.

She attended country school in the Clarkson area. After she completed eighth grade, she went to work to help support her large family and she later earned a high school GED diploma.

On Jan. 30, 1940, she married Frank Limbach in Howells where they made their home until he was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1943. She went with him to California where he completed his basic training. When Mr. Limbach was assigned to the Pacific Campaign, she remained in California and continued employment and stayed with family.

When Mr. Limbach was discharged in 1945, they lived for a time in Perry, Utah, and then returned to Howells.

She was very active in the community and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Women's Club, Jolly 15 Club and the St. John's Altar Society. In addition, she was a Gold Star Sister having lost her brother, Robert, in World War II.

She also assisted her mother with quilting earlier in life and together they made several beautiful quilts that family members cherish. She had many hobbies including gardening and not only grew, but canned many varieties of produce. She also enjoyed giving surplus produce to family, friends and neighbors.

She was an excellent baker and her specialties were a variety of kolaches, cinnamon rolls and horn rolls. She shared these with many people and anyone who tasted her baking can attest to the excellent quality. She also made dumplings for every family gathering and passed down the tradition by teaching her granddaughters how to make the perfect dumpling.

She loved flowers and was very proud of the many beautiful plants surrounding her home.

Later in life she continued to enjoy detailed embroidery and quilting and made quilts, dishtowels and pillowcases for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also was known to have quite a a “sweet tooth" and for birthday presents, she would prefer to have a chocolate cake over any gift.

She will be dearly missed.
