JAMES FRANKLIN DENNY

James, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Denny, died at their home in Sodus, nine miles south of this city, Sunday night. Until harvest time this August, he had always had excellent health but became ill at that time and consulted a doctor. A little later he went to the Tracy hospital and remained there for some time taking treatment. A few weeks before his death he went to Minneapolis and spent some time in a hospital there, returning home about two weeks ago. The cause of death was Bright’s disease.

James Franklin Denny was born near Blair, Washington county, Nebraska, May 19, 1884, being thirty-three years old last May. When he was eighteen years old the family moved to Oklahoma, where they lived two years. They returned to Nebraska and stayed there until they moved to Lyon County four years ago. Besides his parents, he leaves three brothers, Henry, Ralph, and George and a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Laughlin, of Herman, Nebraska.

The funeral was at the Methodist church on Tuesday afternoon and was attended by a large number of neighbors and friends.

“Jim” Denny, as he was popularly called, was a young man of excellent character, was well liked by all who knew him, and he had made many friends since moving to this county four years ago. Rev. W. I. Kern preached the funeral sermon. Relatives and friends who came from out-of-town to attend the funeral were Mrs. and Mrs. Geo. Huddleson of Omaha, Nebr., an uncle and aunt of the deceased; Mr. Fanny Dixon and Ella Hudleson of Blair, Nebr., cousins; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Beard and son of Blair, Nebr., an uncle, aunt and cousin; Mrs. Lizzie Laughlin of Herman, Nebr., a sister; Mrs. Bernice Smith of Blair, a friend; and Mr. C. C. Peterson, a friend from Alvord, Iowa - - - - - Marshall (Minn.) News Messenger
