SERVICES HELD SATURDAY FOR M. DENSMORE

Funeral services were held Saturday at Hamel and Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah, for Marie Densmore, 89, with burial in Blair Cemetery.

Marie N. Densmore, daughter of Andrew Nielsen and Katherine Beck Nielsen, was born at Fort Calhoun, Nebraska on January 14, 1891 and passed from this life at the Blair Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska on Wednesday, December 24, 1980 at the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 10 days.

Marie spent her childhood in the boundaries of Washington County, growing to womanhood there.

She was united in marriage to Joseph A. DeVinney on December 29, 1909 at Blair, Nebraska and to this union were born two daughters - - Eleanor (Mrs. Alton) Jensen of Blair, Nebraska and Irene (Mrs. Vernon) Davis of Truckee, California.

In the year 1934, she was united in marriage to William H. Densmore of Tekamah, Nebraska.

Mrs. Densmore was confirmed at the age of 12 in the Lutheran Church of Blair. Later she united with the Methodist Church of that city and upon moving to Tekamah, united with the Presbyterian Church on March 19, 1961. Marie was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church to the time of her passing. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Dorcas Society and of the Order of the Eastern Star of Blair.

While living in Tekamah Marie found employment as a skilled seamstress and as a cook in the local cafes. She was a person possessed with a determined nature who made a way when none was to be found. Marie was a loving mother and a friend to all who knew her.

A bit of verse found in her effects has this to say concerning giving: “There are three kinds of giving: grudge giving, duty giving, and thanksgiving. Grudge giving says, ‘I hate to,’ duty giving says, ‘I ought to,’ and thanksgiving says, ‘I want to!!” The latter best expresses Marie’s attitude toward God . . . (The article seems cut off here.)
