Rites Wednesday For Mrs. Nearhood Former Blairite

Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Mrs. Roy Nearhood, 2060 North 60th Avenue (Benson), former Washington County resident, who died Sunday at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

The service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the Kremer Funeral Home, the Rev. William Hunter, Presbyterian minister, officiating with interment in Blair Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Roy, of Benson; daughter, Mrs. Paul Hultman (Norma) of Omaha; grandson, Steven; sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Phipps of Tekamah, Mrs. Carl Anderson of Craig and Mrs. Earl Burdie of Norfolk; and a brother, Howard Meador, of Leads, South Dakota.

Mrs. Nearhood, 69 years of age, the former Mable Meador, was born Sept 21, 1892, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Meador, who resided in the Rose Hill vicinity. After graduating from Herman High School, she attended Dana College and Peru State College.

On June 18, 1917 she was united in marriage to Roy Nearhood of Blair. Mr. Nearhood was employed at the Blair Post Office. Shortly after their marriage, he was transferred to Omaha, where they have lived ever since. He was Postmaster at Benson until he retired about three years ago.
