Larry Mills

Funeral services for Larry Henry Mills were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington with Dr. Norman Schroeder officiating on Wednesday, March 25 at 2 p.m.

Fred Berendse was the vocalist and he sang “How Great Thou Art.” Mrs. Joyce Johnson was the organist.

Casket bearers were John Precht, Kevin Redlinger, Mike Johnson, Dan Scholz, Paul Gibbons and Hal Medaris.

Interment was in the Prairie View Cemetery. The Hadan-Golden Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

Mills, son of Herschel and Evelyn Roest Mills, was born in Landstuhl, Germany, on May 2, 1952.

On May 17, 1952, he was baptized into the Christian faith in the Roman Catholic Church. He later confirmed that faith.

Larry attended and graduated from Cathedral High School in Omaha. He attended college at UNO and Creighton University.

He was a faithful and dedicated out salesman for Enterprise Electric Company of Omaha.

On October 4, 1976, he was united in marriage to Sandra Petersen in Denver, Colorado.

Two children were born to this union.

He was into athletics as a spectator. He enjoyed any kind of sports.

He coached a Little League baseball team in Bennington.

Larry had become ill Saturday, March 21, while at work and apparently drove himself to St. Joseph Hospital.

Shortly after his arrival, he suffered a severe heart attack and died at the age of 34 years, 10 months and 19 days.

He is survived by his wife Sandra; two daughters, Catherine Hope and Rebecca Faith; one brother Edward Mills of Nebraska City; one uncle Fred Berendse and one aunt Reva Lewis; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Evelyn.
