Mrs. Miller Dead at 72

Lengthy Illness Fatal Saturday To Mrs. Henry Miller, Kennard

Mrs. Henry Miller, 72, died early Saturday at the Miller home in Kennard following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Miller and her husband had observed their 50th wedding anniversary last January 15, the occasion not being a public one due to her illness.

The body was brought to the Campbell Mortuary in Blair.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Kennard Methodist Church.

Katherine Adele Japp, daughter of John and Catherine Japp, was born on the home place southeast of Kennard Jan. 23, 1880. Her parents were early settlers at Kennard.

On Jan. 15, 1902, she was married in Omaha to Henry Miller. With the exception of three years spent at Gretna the Millers have spent their entire married life in or near Kennard.

Mrs. Miller is survived by three sons, Howard Miller and Henry Miller, Jr., both of Kennard, and Lt. Ned Miller, with the Navy at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, who came here to be with his mother during her final illness; and by two daughters, Mrs. Paul Masters of Kennard and Mrs. Clem Crosby of San Fernando, Calif.

Other survivors include six grandchildren; also five brothers, Edward and William Japp of Kennard, John of Sterling, Colo., Ernest of Gillette, Wyo., and George of Libbey, Mont.; and four sisters, Mrs. Sherman Anderson (Laura) of Kennard, Mrs. Buck Rosenbaum (Emma) of Omaha, Mrs. Charles Schneider (Minnie) of south of Blair, and Mrs. Leslie White (Lizzie) of Upton, Wyo.

Kennard Woman,72, Died Saturday

Mrs. Henry Miller, 72, of Kennard passed away at her home early Saturday morning. She had been ill for many months, her condition being much more serious the last four weeks.

Mrs. Miller was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Japp and was born on the home place southeast of Kennard January 23, 1880. Her parents were early day settlers of the Kennard vicinity.

On January 15, 1902, she was united in marriage to Henry Miller, at Omaha and with the exception of a three year period when the couple lived at Gretna, Kennard has been their home. Mr. and Mrs. Miller celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in January of this year.

Surviving Mrs. Miller are her husband, three sons and two daughters. The sons are John Henry, at home; Howard, of Kennard and Ned who is in the Navy. The daughters: Mrs. Paul Masters (Bessie) of near Kennard, and Mrs. Glen Crosbie (Kay) of San Fernando, California.

Other survivors include five brothers, Ed and William of Kennard; John of Sterling, Colorado; Ernie of Gillette, Wyoming, and George of Libbey, Montana. Note: Katherine is buried in Blk 4 Lot 21 Sp 3 in the Kennard Cemetery.
