Services for LaVern F. Mintken, 74, of Blair and formerly of Herman, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 1996, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. Burial will be held in the Herman Cemetery. He died Sunday, March 17 at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

LaVern F. Mintken was born July 5, 1921, at Humphrey, Neb., to Rick and Catherine (Boyer) Mintken. He attended school and grew up in the Madison, Neb., area.

On June 17, 1950, he married Opal Schade. They farmed in the Madison area until moving to a farm near Herman in 1960.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Opal.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Jim and Shelly Mintken of Blair; daughter and son-in-law Jean and David Ray of Eldora, Iowa; six grandchildren; brother Elmer of Humphrey and sister Pearl Schade of Battle Creek.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair is in charge of arrangements.
