GUS KEMPKE, 58, DIES IN HOSPITAL

SERVICES WERE HELD YESTERDAY FOR WELL-KNOWN KENNARD FARMER

Gus Kempcke, 58, well-known farmer of northwest of Kennard, died late Sunday evening at Clarkson hospital in Omaha, where he had been confined nearly two weeks. He had been in failing health since April.

The body was returned to Kennard, and funeral services were held yesterday at 2 p.m. at the Kennard Methodist church, the Rev. E.P. Booher of Union officiating. Pallbearers were Lillard Jensen, W>B. Rosenbaum, Frank Jahnel, Will Reeh, Jay Stewart and Albert Sorensen. Burial was in Kennard cemetery.

August Carl Kempke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kempke, was born in Germany April 2, 1881, and came to America with his parents when only two and a half years old. The family settled in the vicinity of Bennington, and Mr. Kempke had spent the remainder of his life in that and the Kennard neighborhoods.

He was married 30 years ago to Miss Anna Kronberg of near Kennard, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Kronberg.

Surviving Mr. Kempke are his wife, Anna; a son, Earl, at home; a daughter, Rhoda, of Omaha and Kennard; his 88-yeart-old mother, Mrs. Henry Kempke; three brothers, Otto and Charles Kempke of Lyons and Paul Kempke of Blair; and four sisters, Mrs. Lee Webb of Hastings, and Mrs. Gus E. Kronberg, Mrs. Fred Andreasen and Mrs. Clyde E. Rosenbaum, all of Kennard. Mr. Kempkeā€™s father died seven years ago.

Mr. Kempke was formerly a member of the March school board.

GUS KEMPCKE RITES WEDNESDAY Gus Kempcke, farmer living near Kennard, passed away Sunday evening at 11:40 at the Clarkson hospital in Omaha following an illness of since last May.

Deceased was born in Germany, and came with this parents to this country when but two years of age. He was married to Miss Anna Kronberg on May 5, 1909 and to them two children were born, Earl, a son, and a daughter, Rhoda, both at home, and with their mother, mourn their great loss.

Besides the immediate family, he leaves three brothers, Otto and Charlie of Lyons and Paul of Blair and four sisters, Mrs. Lee Webb of Hastings and Mrs. E. E. Kronberg, Mrs. Fred Andreason and Mrs. Clyde E. Rosenbaum of Kennard.

Funeral rites were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Kennard Methodist church with Rev. E. P. Booher of Cedar Bluffs officiating, and interment was made in the Kennard cemetery.
