Daryl D. Misfeldt, 76, died at his home in Washington on his birthday, Sept. 4, 2008.

Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 6, at Hadan-Golden-Reichmuth Mortuary in Bennington. Interment was in the Prairie View Cemetery in Washington.

Daryl Dean Misfeldt was born Sept. 4, 1932, in Washington to George and Verna (Knudsen) Misfeldt. He grew up in both the Washington and Omaha areas, and attended school in Washington, and Walnut Hill in Omaha. He graduated from Bennington High School in 1949. As a young boy, he enjoyed hunting and sang in high school.

Mr. Misfeldt served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War from December 1949 until his honorable discharge in December 1952.

On Sept 12, 1953, he married Rayma Lee Robinette at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. The family settled in Washington, and remained there to this day in the home that Mr. Misfeldt built himself.

He worked for many years as a computer systems manager for United of Omaha and later, Mutual of Omaha. He was very creative and hard working. He was constantly working on inventing new or better machinery. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and reading. In his younger days, Mr. and Mrs. Misfeldt did a bit of traveling. In the last few years, he spent his time sharing stories with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law: Mark and Debbie, David and Sarah, and Christopher and Janie, all of Washington; seven grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law LeMara and Artie Eicke of Washington; stepmother,Marjorie Misfeldt of Fremont; and nieces, nephews, and other family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rayma.

Survived by sons and daughters-in-law; Mark and Debbie, David and Sarah, and Christopher and Janie all of Washington, NE; grandchildren: Angie, Hannah, Molly, Abby, George, Katie, and Ellie; sister and brother-in-law, LeMara and Artie Eicke of Washington; stepmother Marjorie Misfeldt, of Fremont, nieces, nephews, and other family.

Funeral Services 10:30 am Saturday at the funeral home. Interment Prairie View Cemetery. Visitation 2-8 pm with family receiving friends 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
