Mrs. Geo. Misfeldt Died Saturday At Omaha Hospital

Mrs. George Misfeldt, a life-long resident of the Washington (village) area, died last Saturday, February 5th at the Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. She was 66 years of age.

Verna Ann Misfeldt was born February 11, 1905 to J. P. and Dora Knudsen at their farm home south of Kennard. She was baptized into the Christian faith and confirmed at the Emmaus Lutheran Church at Kennard.

She grew up in the Washington area and attended Wayne State College after which she taught at the March School in Washington County and at District 63 in Douglas County.

On June 3, 1931 she was married to George Misfeldt at a wedding held at the home of her parents. They made their home in Washington where two children were born, a son Daryl and a daughter, LeMara.

For a short time, the family lived in Omaha and in 1945 returned to their present home in Washington. She returned to teaching in 1946 and taught at the Bennington Public School, at District 67 in Douglas County and at the Washington School where she taught until she became ill. She taught for a total of thirty years.

She was a life time member of the Parent Teachers Association and had been very active in the Junior Red Cross. She had been a charter member of the Washington Extension Club for 37 years, and was presently Secretary of the Washington County Teachers Association.

She passed away February 5 at the age of 65 years, 11 months and 24 days at the Immanuel Hospital after an illness of two months.

She is survived by her husband, George, son Daryl, daughter LeMara (Mrs. Henry Eicke) and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Dora Knudsen of Blair, a sister Mrs. Rosamond Morse of Janesville, Wisconsin and a brother, C. Harvey Knudsen of Omaha.

Funeral services were held at the Emmaus Lutheran Church at Kennard with the Rev. Albert Engler officiating, on Monday.

Burial, under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home in Blair, was made in the Prairie View Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Richard Knudsen, Chris Johansen, Merle Anderson, Clifford Larsen, Russell Cunningham and Wendell Kronberg.
