Helen G. Mitchell, 85, of Tekamah, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at the Tekamah Health & Rehab Center in Tekamah.

Services were Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at the Craig United Methodist Church in Craig. Burial was in the Craig Cemetery.

Helen G. Mitchell was born Oct. 25, 1914, to Chris and Anna Marie (Christiansen) Lund in Fort Calhoun. She graduated from Alder Grove School in 1931.

On June 8, 1935, she married John B. Mitchell at the Craig United Methodist Parsonage. The couple farmed for 20 years in the Alder Grove area before moving to Craig.

She was a bookkeeper for the Farmers Union Co-op and her husband was manager until they retired in 1978. In 1983, they moved to Tekamah.

She was a member of the Craig United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Ed Vogel of Herman and Joan and Larry Grenier of Omaha; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Sonya Mitchell of Springfield and Jon and Sharon Mitchell of Tekamah; a brother, Sterling Lund of Garner, N.C.; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and three sisters.

Memorials are suggested to the Craig United Methodist Church.

Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah was in charge of arrangements.
