Irma M. Moberg, 89, of Fremont died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Fremont Area Medical Center.

Irma was born Nov. 17, 1919, in rural Uehling to Arthur L. and Minnie (Mesmer) Uehling. She was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church. She attended school at Swaburg, then Uehling High School and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, with additional hours at Iowa State in Ames, Iowa, and Midland College in Fremont.

She was a teacher in rural schools at Winslow, Burwell and Blair. Irma was a substitute teacher in Dodge County from 1967 to 1975. She was a 4-H Club leader for 10 years, and taught Sunday school at Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church, northwest of Fremont.

Irma married Carl Moberg on Nov. 1, 1944, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in San Francisco. Carl was serving in the United States Navy. They lived in Alameda, Calif., until the end of World War II, then returned to Nebraska to live three years in rural Uehling and 27 years in rural Ames. In 1975, after Carl retired from farming, they moved into Fremont. Then Irma joined the Fremont Area Medical Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed arts and crafts, and loved to sew. She and Carl took many nice trips within the United States during their retirement years.

Survivors include: two daughters, Karen (and husband, David) Legband of Fremont and Kay (and husband, John) Browder of Fremont; a granddaughter, Juliane (and husband, Mike) Bautista of Omaha; a great-grandson, Davis Bautista.

Irma was preceded in death by her husband Carl on March 29, 2007, and by a sister.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Elim Lutheran Church in Swaburg, rural Hooper, with Vicar Judy Johnson officiating. There is no visitation however, friends may sign the register book until 5 p.m. today at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. A private family burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Elim Lutheran Cemetery.
