Funeral Held For Sister Of Herman Man

Funeral services were conducted Friday, September 12, at the First Baptist Church in Tekamah for Martha Modlin. Mrs. Modlin died September 9 at Oakland.

Rev. Gail Twining officiated the rites. Music was provided by Richard Nelsen, soloist, and Barbara Anderson, organist.

Pallbearers were Allen Tranmer, Roger Tranmer, Robin Peterson, Robert Case, William Modlin and Lawrence Wickstrom.

Interment was at Tekamah Cemetery.

Martha Caroline Modlin was born January 28, 1898, at Tekamah to Albert and Mary King. She lived in the Tekamah area all of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church here.

She was married to Samuel E. Modlin on May 28, 1914, at Pender. The couple had two sons and four daughters.

Mrs. Modlin is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Floyd and Joe King, and a sister, Pearl King.

Survivors include her sons, Paul of Oakland and Robert of Omaha; daughters Mrs. Lester (Eva) Gilbert and Robert of Omaha; daughters Mrs. Lester (Eva) Gilbert and Roberta Kanter, both of Lyons, Phyllis Peterson of Oakland and Mrs. Harlan (Marlene) Tranmer of Decatur; one brother, Elza King of Herman; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
