The funeral for Donald Moeller of Hooper will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hooper.

Donald W. Moeller, 81, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at the Hooper Care Center in Hooper.

Don was born Jan. 4, 1929, in rural Nickerson to Walter and Orlie ‘Bendle’ Moeller. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s in Winslow and graduated from Hooper High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. Don married Willa Niemann on Dec. 21, 1957, in Winslow. He was a lifetime resident of the Hooper area and was employed as a trucker for several years then farmed and raised cattle until his retirement. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hooper and the American Legion Post 18 of Hooper. Don had been a member of the Winslow Fire Department, Winslow Rural Fire Board, Hooper Township Board and Dodge County Feeders.

Survivors include: his wife, Willa of Hooper; sons, Sid (and wife, Peg) Moeller of Hooper, Mike Moeller of Hooper and Velyda Moeller of Fremont; grandchildren, Robb and Brett Moeller, Tate and Grady Moeller and Naiyah Meyers; and a sister, Janell St. Amand of California.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Phyllis, and a brother, Steve.

The Rev. Carl Lehman will officiate Monday’s service. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday with family receiving friends from 3-5 p.m. at Ludvigsen’s Hooper Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Lunch will be served at the Hooper Fire Hall following the service.

A memorial fund will be determined at a later date.
