Funeral services for James Taylor, 71, of Blair, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16 at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Orum. A Masonic service was held Monday evening. Mr. Taylor died at his residence on Thursday, Oct. 11. James P. Taylor was born Jan. 6, 1930 in Blair to Harold and Adeline (Carlson) Taylor. He attended the Rose Hill and Blair schools.

In 1950, he entered the military and served in the Navy during the Korean War.

On Dec. 20, 1952, he married Lida “Rae” Slavens. She preceded him in death in July 2001.

In 1957, he started and founded the Taylor Oil Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Blair Masonic Lodge, Blair American Legion and V.F.W., served on the Blair Planning Commission, was a member of the Board of Regents for Dana College, and was a recipient of the Nebraska Small Business Award.

He is survived by his son, Stephen Taylor of Atlanta, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Laura Taylor of Blair; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Terry Conrad, also of Blair; five grandchildren; two brothers, William Taylor of Oakland and Stanley Taylor of Blair; and a sister, Peggy Anderson, also of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Donald, and a sister, Jeanne.

Memorials are suggested to Rose Hill Cemetery, hospice, or to Dana College.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair was in charge of arrangements.
