JOHN H. TAYLOR, SR., 96

Washington County native John H. Taylor, Sr., 96, of Fremont, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at the Nye Pointe Health 7 Rehab. Center in Fremont.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Fremont Alliance Church with Rev. Tom Nevius officiating. Interment will be at the Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Ludvigsen Mortuary, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

John H. Taylor was born July 13, 1907, on the family farm in the Rosehill community of Washington County to John H. and Emma (Anderson) Taylor.

On June 7, 1930, he married Meta Hansen in Dennison, Iowa.

Mr. Taylor farmed in the Rosehill and Orum areas for 38 years, retiring and moving into Fremont in 1969. He had served on the Bisbee School Board; was active in the Washington County Farm Bureau; and volunteered at the Fremont Senior Center. He was a member of the Fremont Alliance Church, where he served in Awana’s and supported many mission organizations and the “Back to the Bible” broadcast.

He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Gary Chubb of Dallas, Texas; Mary and Chuck Barrett of Denver, Colo.; and Marie Cameron of Boise, Idaho; four sons and daughters-in-law, John Jr. and Patricia Taylor; Robert and Patricia Taylor; and Thomas Taylor, all of Fremont; and Timothy and Debbie Taylor of Princeton, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Meta, a grandson, two sisters, and six brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the Fremont Alliance Church and the Back to the Bible Broadcast.

Ludvigsen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
