Frances Lee Luce, 72, of Blair, died Monday, July 21, 2014, in Lincoln, with her family around her.

A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Country Bible Church in Blair.

Frances Lee Nelson was born Aug. 27, 1941, in Omaha to Guy and Edith Nelson. She grew up in Omaha, the youngest of three children. She was a daddy's girl and could get him to do things no one else could. Being so much younger than her brother and sister, her playmates were her dogs. She was active in 4-H through her teen years. Horses were her first love and she excelled at barrel racing.

After attending a one-room country school, she graduated from North High in Omaha.

She married Ronald Luce in December of 1966. They moved to Blair in December of 1970 with their three children: Iona, Wayne and Gene.

She immediately started a 4-H club for 8- and 9-year-old girls, leading them in learning how to cook, sew, give public speeches and demonstrations and various other projects for the county fair.

She had dinner on the table every night at exactly 5:30.

She worked for several years as a customer service rep for a long distance company in Omaha. She sold draperies at JC Penney for more than 20 years. She loved this job and loved getting to know her customers and talking to all the kids who came into the store.

Mrs. Luce also sold AVON for nearly 35 years and made the “President’s Club” most of those years.

She was very involved with her church. She helped with MOPS at the church and loved holding the babies. She enjoyed lemon meringue pie, caramel apples, root beer floats and Spaghetti Works.

Mrs. Luce was a faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a good and faithful servant of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Edith Nelson; and sister Arlene.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Luce of Blair; daughter Iona (Pat) Krier of Seattle, Wash.; sons Wayne George of Valley and Gene (Paula) Luce of Lincoln; and brother Ward Nelson of Tacoma, Wash.; seven grandchildren: Casandra, Rebecca, Rachel, Ryan, Jessica, Brandie and Julian; one great-grandchild Tailyn; and several nieces and nephews.
