Funeral services were Monday, February 13 at Bethany Lutheran Church at Lyons, Nebraska for Helena E. Nelsen, 81 who died February 9, 1990.

Helena E. Suess was born June 15 1901 to Reinhard and Dora Peterson Seuss at Elkhorn, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church of Elkhorn and graduated from Elkhorn High School.

She attended Midland College and taught school prior to her marriage.

She married Orville Nelsen February 27, 1929 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. To that union, one son, Wayne was born.

They farmed in the Kennard area until 1942 when they moved to Omaha. There, she worked for the Kresge Company for 25 years until her retirement in 1972.

She moved to Lyons where she lived until her death. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Lyons and the Women of the ELCA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville who died in 1984; one sister, Marie, and a brother, Louis.

She is survived by her son, Wayne and his wife, Delores of Lyons; grandchildren, Mark Nelson and his wife, Julie of Tekamah; Lori Nelsen of Mullen, Nebraska; Dale Nelsen of Lyons; and Paul Nelsen of Plains, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Malinda and Jerome Nelsen of Tekamah; one sister, Alvena Nelsen of Omaha; one brother, Ernest Suess of Blair; and many nieces and nephews.
