Services for Orville Nelsen held Monday

Funeral services were held Monday, November 12, at Trinity Methodist Church in Omaha for Orville L. Nelsen who died at his home November 9, 1984 at the age of 77 years.

Orville was born April 6, 1907 to Chris and Leona (Cushman) Nelsen. In 1929 he married Helena Suess. To this union one son, Wayne, was born. They farmed in the Kennard area until 1942 when they moved to Omaha. He worked as a city bus driver for Metro Area Transit until retiring in 1972.

He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother C. Harold Nelsen.

He is survived by his wife Helena, son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Delores Nelsen of Lyons. Four grandchildren Mark and wife Julie of Oakland, Lori Nelsen of Mullen, Dale Nelsen of Norfolk and Paul Nelson of Lyons, and one great-granddaughter Malinda of Oakland, two sisters, Ruby Bates and Hazel Toft of Omaha, nieces and nephews.

Rev. Melvin Vance officiated at the service, organist was Jane Weaver, soloist was Lowell Powell. Burial was at the Kennard Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harold Bates, Grant Hayek, Jerry Hayek, Bruce Grinnell, Robert Grinnell and Richard Nelson, all of Omaha.

Roeder Mortuary in Omaha was in charge of the arrangements for the service.

Note: He is buried in Blk 3 Lt 36 Sp 5.
