Vinona R. Nelsen, 91

Vinona R. Nelsen, 91, of Blair, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Congregational Church UCC in Blair.

Vinona R. Nelsen was born in Wisner to Fred and Matilda (Lasse) Schirmer. She attended elementary school at Wisner, and graduated from Wisner High School.

During World War II, she worked at the bomber plant in Omaha.

On June 4, 1949, she married Ted Nelsen. They farmed west of Blair, and Mrs. Nelsen also worked at Dana College. She moved to Blair after her husband’s death in 1976.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Mary Nelsen of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Russ and Stacy Nelsen of Blair; daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Michael Nuzum of Crescent, Iowa; and six grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

Memorials are suggested to the Congregational Church of Blair, or the Veterans baseball field.
